SOFT Pastel
Original soft pastel paintings, produced using handmade soft pastels on sanded-like archival paper.
Pastels are pure powdered pigments mixed with very little binder and made into sticks, pans or pencils. These same pigments are used in making oil and watercolor paints. The low amount of binder creates rich and vibrant colors. Some say pastels are the most permanent of mediums, since they will not crack or darken over time like oil paintings if cared for properly. Dennis uses high-quality Unison brand pastels. The archival paper's rough surface allows Dennis to layer colors to create texture and depth.
